2016 Income and Household Size Guidelines
To be eligible to enter the lottery drawing to purchase this home, you must have a minimum annual
household income of $47,000. Maximum income limits as detailed in the chart below also apply.
How To Qualify and Apply:
Pre-qualified applicants will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to buy a home in Howard County. One-person households are not eligible for this opportunity. This exclusive opportunity to purchase a home is open to pre-qualified applicants via a lottery drawing to be held at the event. Applicants must complete an application for the housing lottery, submit all required paperwork prior to the event and be present at the event on April 9, 2016, to be eligible to win. Maximum household income limits and credit score requirements apply.
Prospective buyers must be prequalified before the event to be entered into the lottery drawing at the Housing Fair to win the chance to purchase this home in Howard County at a substantially reduced price. This home will be sold subject to a permanently affordable housing covenant. Maximum income limits based on household size apply. PLEASE READ THE APPLICATION CAREFULLY FOR ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS. Candidates must pre-register for the drawing and submit all required paperwork by 5:00pm, April 4, 2016 and be present at the event on April 9, 2016 to be eligible to win. No applications will be accepted on the day of the fair. The lottery winner will be chosen at the Come Home to Howard County Housing Fair on April 9, 2016, at 2:40 p.m.
Candidates must pre-apply for the lottery drawing, submit all required paperwork by the deadline and be present at the event on April 9th to be eligible to win.
If you are the lucky winner, you will be buying a home at a reduced price based on the appraised value. You will have the right to live in the home with all of the rights and responsibilities of a homeowner. When you decide to sell your home, you must first offer to sell it back to the Howard County Housing Commission at the permanently affordable resale price. See application for complete details.

**Important** If you have previously applied for a housing lottery or the MIHU program, you must complete a separate application for the housing lottery for the drawing at the Housing Fair on April 9, 2016. You are not automatically included in this drawing. Likewise,
if you apply for the Housing Fair lottery, you will not be included in future MIHU lotteries unless you complete a separate application for the
MIHU program during an open enrollment period.
Enrollment periods for the MIHU homeownership program are open four times per year – January, April, July and October. MIHU rentals are available year round on a first come, first serve basis. MIHUs are sold or rented at affordable prices and rents set by the Department of Housing and Community Development. Any person or family can apply to buy or rent an MIHU provided their household income does not exceed the maximums listed on the application. Click here for more information.
